Default 2014 is not my best year !

As many know I got stuck in Ukraine for nearly 5 months .... jumped ship to Istanbul to get home.

Been home about 3 weeks, now I am laying on a hospital bed in observation for suspected appendix or stones !

Someone please tell me this is all I will suffer this year ?

Nigel

Must have been that low grade swill they had on the ship!

Sorry to hear it Nigel. Hopefully they fix you up and have you on your feet and flying again soon!

So tell us, is your staff like on the #1 or #2? (hope that's safe enough for the mods!)

Sorry to hear this Nigel, but things will be better. Things like this keep cropping up for those of us on the other side of the hill...but this too will pass.

Keep the chin up, get well soon,

Don

Hope you get well soon. Whipping appendix out seems to be almost an out-patient thing these days. I got mine extracted when i was 12 so that's one thing I don't have to worry about.

Last time i was in hospital with a busted ankle (plus hospital acquired infection of the wound and bone) most of the nurses looked like #1 above, but older. Hope you have more luck.

Dang Nigel, not another streak of bad luck. With the way things are going, number 1 would be part of your nursing staff.

Having never had appendicitis, pray for it, the stones were brutal.

I had both appendix (7 years old) and stones (five years ago) Those stones were

When they passed, could not believe how tiny they were!!

If they decide it's stones, ask them to put you on beer since you will need lots of fluids to pass them.

And I've been whining all day about a twisted ankle. Kind of pales compared to what you're experiencing. Hope you get better soon!

Thanks everyone ....

Today's much better, but boy I hate hard flat beds !

If you see my wife - who used to be nurse in this hospital - I don't need another !

Yesterday they were going to send in the camera to have a look round... that got cancelled ... they just did CT scan - so waiting results.

I'm bloody hungry - haven't eaten in last 36hrs - they say is a sign that appendix may not be the problem.

Oh well ....

FYI - guy who relieved me in Ukraine is now stuck ....

So latest tests show no problem with appendix .... but inflamed bowel.

I get the 'bum-scope' tomorrow !

Anyway looks like no surgery.

I have heard that "inflamed bowel" can be very painful, but not as bad as trying to pass a stone.
Nigel, you have my prayers. The way things have gone this year, 2015 is going to be FANTASTIC for you.

Years ago my dad was coming out of the anesthesia from a heart bypass operation. He opened his eyes to find a nurse very similar to the #2 nurse above. She was looking at the instruments, and didn't see his eyes, but she was holding his hand. My dad closed his eyes and tightened the grip on her hand, and held her firmly for 45 minutes.
She told me, he had a muscle contraction which held her helpless for 45 minutes. (She didn't know he simply wanted to hold a pretty girl's hand)

After he released her, she told me I could go in, she went to do something.

First thing my dad said was, "Holy Sh!^ did you see that nurse? I thought I was in heaven"

I had to admit she was one of the prettiest girls I had seen in a lone time.

On the other hand, my wife had a triple heart bypass some 15 years ago. While in intensive care recovery, she had a male nurse who had the looks of a movie star. That male nurse spent the next 12 hours by her bedside, keeping an eye on all the monitors and everything else.

Only problem is, they had her under pain killers, and she has absolutely zero recollection of the guy.

When I had my heart trouble a few years back, I told them I wanted the oldest ugliest nurse they had to help shower me. They must have turned that hospital upside down to find the size 10 babe with the ringlets and green eyes who sat on the end of the bed and said she was going to give me a wash. "Not a chance" I told her, or my heart really would have given out. Man, I would have jumped at the chance 30 years ago........

A physician claims these are actual comments from his patients made while he was performing colonoscopies
(sanitized for your protection):

1. "Take it easy, Doc, you're boldly going where no man has gone before."
2. "Find Amelia Earhart yet?"
3. "Can you hear me NOW?"
4. "Oh boy, that was sphincterrific!"
5. "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

7. "Any sign of the trapped miners, Chief?"
8. "You put your left hand in, you take your left hand out. You do the Hokey Pokey...."

10. "Hey! Now I know how a Muppet feels!"
11. "If your hand doesn't fit, you must acquit!"
12. "Hey, Doc, let me know if you find my dignity."

14. "Could you write me a note for my wife, saying that my head is not, in fact, up there?"
