Default Hobbico FW-190 pilot figure

Here's what I've done to put a pilot figure in my Butcher Bird. I bought a Sam Fisher action figure from the Tom Clancy Splinter Cell series. He's fully articulated, and has a decent head sculpt for a Luftwaffe pilot. Basically just painted his shirt, and made all the gear he's wearing from scratch. He is a bit heavy, but since this plane needs a little tail weight, he will do nicely. Haven't glued him in yet, so not sure of the CG and final weight.

Here are some pics of the minor mods made to the plane itself. I added the swastika to the tail, removed the tape frame from canopy and painted the frame, painted the wing root areas as I didn't like the way the light blue looked there, gave the whole airframe a coat of clear flat spray, which dulls out the shiny decals a bit. Now we'll see how she flys!

That pilot looks great! Must be tough making all those tiny details. Good job!

Thanks, xmech.
I got my start at kit bashing and super-detailing as a kid building plastic models. I could never build one straight out of the box. I guess it's carried over to R/C models now. I'll vacuum form parts as needed, or add a little detail here and there. Just can't leave well enough alone! I did a complete cockpit kit for a buddy's giant scale Dehavilland Beaver a few years back, and it was a blast. I just wish I could get down to actually building a plane from a kit...

Those details make the planes so much nicer. My mods are simpler, like I can't stand to see the inside of my EDF exhausts white, so I paint them. Stuff like that. Keep posting your mods in the future. Hopefully they'll inspire others.

Thanks mattman, I thought there might still be a slight chance so I took it.

hey there....I know its been a while since you posted about this pilot figure but I"ve just gotten the same plane and I'm looking to get a pilot. Where did you order the Clancy figure from and what scale is this pilot?

I would try to google it and see if anything comes up.

Good Luck!
