Default Jetset44 x-31 plans

I thought I would share my newest build. This is the X-31 vectored thrust Jet designed by Jetset44. This is the first time I have taken on such a venture with depron outside of the flat plate foamies. It was both easy and hard as I have never done this before. Really easy to build but the sanding whew!

The original plans called for using a microfan and 3S 1320 lipo. Specs below. I used his enlarged plans for a Minifan on a mega juiced by 4S. Besides adding additional CF to beef up the wing, rudder and canards, everything else was to spec.

I havent flown it yet, but that should come this weekend. Nervous? Heck yeah. Give me a 27% 3d'er and I feel calm as a cucumber. Put me behind a 36" ws EDF and my palms start sweating

Yeah, Steve is pretty ingenious. I love his plans.

Here are some photos of Steve's and a flight video testing the TV system.

I haven't installed the TV'ing system yet. I am going to fly it normal first and then see if I want to add it later or build a second one with the TV.

Thanks Tom. At 700 watts, it has some punch to it. I figure enough to get me out of trouble.

None. CG was just a tad noseheavy at 5". I think 5.25 will do better.

Tony hand launched it for me before grabbing the camera. The first launch, I had it on low rates with the recommended travel. It took off like a bullet, but crashed into some weeds as it descended. I couldnt react quick enough to flip high rates as it didnt have enough travel to climb with low rates. Only a small crack in the wing tip which was fixed with zagi tape and CA.

About 15 minutes later, Tony tossed it again and this time I had 75% deflection. I found that I needed it for my flying style. I subsequently bumped that up to 100%.

It is super stable at any speed and glides forever with the power off.

I am trying to figure out how to put my 5S 4ah pack in there. That ought to be fun he he

Another Convert to the Joy's of EDF flying Sorry, but there is no cure to your new addiction, just more power

You might have to look into a HV ESC, but then you'll need a BEC, or receiver battery.

I have a suggestion for your next one. Build something big enough for retracts. I don't know if you have a paved runway, but you can ROG off grass with 2" or so size tires.

LOL. I know...it is addicting

I have a grass strip that 2" wheels can handle. I am looking for my next victim and happen to have some air retracts in a drawer..hmmmmm..

Thumbs up

I noticed elsewhere that your planning on running a larger battery and a 5S pack too What Esc are you using in her now ?

As for a suggestion on the next one, how about "The King of Climb"
F-4D Skyray!!

Pics below are Air-Sally's Skyray, taken at the SuperflyVI fly-in at Las Vegas in November. I think this one is 24" WS, but there are plans for a 33" WS on my site.
