Tom,
I designed 1:8.7669 Boeing B-47 Stratojets for EDF. Our CAD person created .stl files for milling. Must cut components in multiple sections to achieve shapes with 3 axis.
I.E.: Inboard nacelle is 20.7735" X (L) 'tween frnt inlet face & rear exhstoutlet ..not rear of nacelle. Inboard nacelle = 9.113" Y(W) @ widest.
This results in nacelle inlet (face) a seperate piece milled forward of a line on sides, top and bottom.
Split rear section following virtual horiz line @ exhaust exit. This is similar to removable nacelle front. Next split vertical center line frnt seperation line back to vertual horiz line @ exhaust exit.
Permits X,Y,Z 3 axis milling. Slice cut sections as normal. Sections are reassembled to form nacelle halves we hot wire internal cavities.
